What to See and Do in Tioman
1. Learn About Its Legend
Legend has it that a dragon princess was flying from China to Singapore to visit her love. While flying over Malaysia, she decided to take a dip in the crystal-clear waters of its sea. The swim felt so good that she decided to stay there forever and transformed into an island, Tioman. The prince of Singapore was left high and dry... hehehe.
2. Relax
You're going to have it easy: palm trees, waves, fruit smoothies... since you're in paradise, make sure to enjoy every moment.
3. Snorkeling, One of the Best Things to Do in Tioman
Tioman has stunning underwater life, if you want to meet Nemo in person, you can do it here.
4. Waterfalls to See on Tioman Island
Tioman has several waterfalls, although the most famous are the Asah Waterfall and especially the Mukut Waterfall.
5. Eating, Another Top Thing to Do in Tioman (and Malaysia)
Nasi lemak, mee goreng, roti, rojak, chicken rice, satay, and much more... Malaysian cuisine is one of our favorites and we bet that if you try it, you will fall in love!
6. Enjoy Sunrises and Sunsets
No excuses: sunrises are at 7:00 AM, perfect even for the laziest! And what can we say about the sunsets? Some of the most beautiful you've ever seen!
7. Try an Ice Kakang
Oh the memories: a kilogram of ice, flavored syrups, fruit gelatins (and even sweet corn and beans!), this typical Malaysian dessert must be tried at least once in a lifetime!
8. Jungle Trekking, Something to Do in Tioman if You Love Adventure
There are hardly any roads in Tioman, but there are plenty of trekking paths. One of the most famous goes from Tekek to Juara (about 2 hours) or from Tekek to Monkey Bay.
9. Learn About the Turtle Project
If you are passionate about nature and have always wanted to make a difference, you can do so by signing up for the Turtle Project where you can help and learn more about turtles... yes! There are turtles in Tioman!! How lovely they are...

Although more than turtles, you might encounter another little creature In Tioman, there are a lot of lizards (those that are about half a meter long). If you cross paths with one, don't be scared... they are vegetarians (or so they say!).
10. See the Twin Peaks
Without a doubt, the most beautiful postcard of Tioman is obtained by looking at the 'Nenek Semukut', the twin peaks. There are even some locals who claim that the architect of the Petronas Towers was inspired here Is it true or false? What is certain is that the view is breathtaking!
Useful Information for Visiting Tioman Island
How to get there? In this post, we tell you how to get to Tioman Island. Entry fee: the entrance to the island costs 5 MYR, plus 20 MYR for the marine park entrance (we paid 15 MYR). Where to sleep? It depends on your budget and what you're looking for: on my first trip, I stayed in Genting Village, a super local little village (with two alleyways) with a few accommodations and some stalls where you can eat rice, noodles, and burgers for just a few bucks. I stayed at the Aguna Resort where they took great care of me, and I remember it fondly. If your budget allows, if you're traveling as a couple and want a romantic vacation, I recommend the Tunamaya Resort, a charming hotel where we spent 2 days in luxury! A truly amazing place. When to go? The best season is from March to October: accommodations close during the monsoon.
